Are you the same Holly who left a comment on my blog??

I've really meant to properly introduce myself for quite some time now.
Hi. I'm Holly.
I like to comment on other people's blogs.

For the most part, I am not particularly creative. I'd like to think my writing is clear and concise. In reality, I know that my writing comes out in jumbled, rambling sentences. (So bear with me as I ramble along here.)
I once tried my hand at writing fiction. I won't make that mistake again. What I'll write here will mostly be my own personal ramblings, but it will all be true and likely written similar to the way I talk. I simply do not have the knack for writing that some people possess.
I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, and my musical experience is limited to playing the flute (quite badly) in a school band, well over a decade ago. The flute has met it's demise, and so has my playing.
Photography to me is point, click, cuss that it came out funny, and try again. Occasionally I try my hand at photoshop. Even in photoshop my skills are rudimentary and laughable.
Even my humor is a little bit... off.
I don't even apply myself to my one true talent of drawing. No time. No muse. No deadline. Whatever this week's excuse might be.
Where was I going with this? Oh, yeah...
So, if I've commented on your blog, and you are showcasing a particular talent, then I have commented because I respect not only your talent but the fact that you have taken the time to share it with me.

I don't have a particular soapbox to stand on, although I do occasionally find one I'll step up to briefly. What I am, is opinionated. So, if I've commented on your blog, it may have been that you asked me for an opinion. (That'll teach you to ask strangers for answers.) Sometimes I simply cannot help myself. If I ever get too opinionated, you know, to the point that it becomes abrasive, shoot me an email. Let me know. Erase the comment. Whatever it takes to make it right for you.

Otherwise, I find people in general to be fascinating.
I pass by so many people every day, and it would be considered improper for me to ask about their occupation, or new home, or family life, or thoughts on a variety of subjects. Yet, behavior that would be considered nosey, or too forward and assuming, is simply handed to me in published form to read via internet. So, if you've written about an aspect in your life, and I've read about it, I do try to comment. Mostly just to let you know that you've shared it with someone, and that they appreciated it. If I've got anything of value to share, I'll try to leave it behind too.

So, Happy blogging, and remember...
I'm reading, and if I'm reading, I certainly will let you know.

Thanks for commenting on my blogs (both of them), Holly. This entry of yours was very nice. I like it! I will take the time to read the other ones soon. I appreciate the way you just say it like it is.

Regarding your talents, I for one would like to encourage you to share those with us (the people who visit your blog). I got it... Do you have a scanner? I would love to see at least a sample of your drawings, perhaps one or two every few days. Can you do that? Would you do that? After all, you said, "If I've got anything of value to share, I'll try to leave it behind too." In context, I know you were talking about leaving a comment. But, you have something else of value to share, Holly: your talent for drawing. You might be pleasantly surprised at how much traffic and comments this draws to your blog. (How's this for motivation to overcome the excuses!)

Thank you for your kind words Holly. Much obliged!
However, let me say that if you think that your writing is not clear and concise. I'd hate to imagine what your comentary would be of my writing skill!

One thing that always bugs me is when people leave this comment: "Hi, thanks for visiting my blog." It adds nothing to the site!

I've seen a bunch of your comments and they always add some kind of value. Even an overly-oppinionated comment would still add to the content, as long as it's not the generic, "you suck!"

Writing the way you speak is exactly what most people should do. Unless you're Hemmingway, or some other master of the craft it's most likely that your personality and individual style will come through by writing as you speak.

Being overly opinionated in an internet setting is definetely a good quality to have. Not only does it stimulate discussion, but also encourages further authorship. So...thanks for all the comments you left on my blog(s). I always look[ed] forward to reading them.

BTW... why on earth did you say "Thank you" on my post about how I complained about teenagerdom? I think the only appropriate response to that entry would have been, "Man, you're a complete prick!" :D

Jus' stopping by your neck of the woods to say, "Hi!"

Oh, yes. Sometimes we do think alike huh?

Hey Lady! Here I am your best friend and I am JUST NOW commenting on your blog after I've known about it for 2 weeks. I am one crummy kind of best friend! You might want to rethink that one....

BTW, I think you have a great writing style. Writing how you speak is good. It makes it more comfortable and interesting to read. I am NOT biased. Nope, not in the least. :)

hey, holly...it's michelle...remember me, the fellow lab rat who once tested bovine fluids as you do...well, i saw the link to your blog on patricia's blog and thought i'd check it out.

you truly have a gift for writing; it was one of those things i couldn't help but continue to read just to see what you had to say next. i honestly think you should revisit the whole writing thing; i would buy your work.

anywho, my plans for australia are in the works as well. good luck with your funding.

I really enjoyed your writing style, Holly! And I envy your being able to draw. I just can't get my hands to do what my head wants.

You wrote, "I pass by so many people every day, and it would be considered improper for me to ask about their occupation, or new home, or family life, or thoughts on a variety of subjects." Hmmmmm. Is THAT why I keep getting in trouble????

Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog! (I just said that to take a poke at David.) Your posting resonated with me because I spend a lot of time thinking about the charm of blogging. What's the attraction? I love the lives, the stories, the daily grind of other people. Blogging is, for me, only 10% about "talking" and 90% about "listening".

Интересное замечание.

There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
